Racial Harmony DayIn my opinion, Szilagyi's view should be adopted. In a multi-racial society like Singapore, it is of a great importance that each race has basic respects for one another. It is only by doing so, we will be able to live peacefully with another and the racial riots in 1964 will not occur again.
When different races live together, we have to be sensitive to the kind of words we use, be it in daily life, or in the media. This is where responsibility comes in. Like what Szilagyi said, once messages are out in public, they develop a life of their own and become subject to multiple interpretations. To prevent people from misinterpreting the messages, we have to be clear, sensitive and responsible in the things we say. If we put focus on freedom of speech, not thinking of what others would feel, we are being insensitive and normally, this leads to the misunderstanding between different parties and that is when conflicts, unhappiness, anger, etc. sparks off.
Freedom of speech could be carried out but only when everyone is mature enough to accept what is said, or is able to handle whatever that is said with an open mind. If one is aggressive and does not think before he acts, it would usually lead to conflicts and misunderstandings between one another. If freedom of speech is to be carried out, people must then have the heart to accept any criticism made and they must also realize that different races have different cultures, believes, leading to different mindsets. Thus if one race should say something wrong about another race, I think it is important that the people step out and help to clear the misunderstanding caused, instead of using violence to resolve the problem.
Thus in conclusion, I feel that only when one is responsible in his words or actions, then he will be able to speak freely.

Prejudice is a disease we can never get rid of. Discuss.
Prejudice means an unreasonable dislike and distrust of people who are different from you in some way, especially because of their race, sex, religion, etc. I totally agree with this statement because I believe everyone will definitely prejudice against someone before and it is like a disease that is difficult to cure. Besides being difficult to cure, it is also contagious and it is spreading fast. Holding a prejudice against someone is influencial. One may prejudice against someone just because he had heard something negative about another person. It is also something we cannot get rid of because it is all in our mindset. Unless we are willing to change the way we think, if not it is very difficult to get rid of this "disease".
Examples of people that hold prejudice against someone else would be the Blacks and Whites in the United States. When something bad happened, one would usually think that the Black did it even though he might be innocent. This is all because of the racial discrimination which happened a very long time ago in the United States. This also just proved that prejudice can never be get rid of because even after so long, people are still talking about it.
Therefore, I feel that people should get to know each other first before making any comments on one another. If not, it will just lead to personal attacks, misunderstandings and unhappiness. It is also important that we educate the younger ones the correct mindset, so that they will not grow up holding prejudice against someone they had never talked to before. However, in our present society of freedom of speech, I guess prejudice would still be a disesase we can never get rid of.

YouTube has no ethics, it's been created for the sole purpose of entertainment and money. Do you agree?
YouTube has now become a popular website whereby as long as you are an user, you will be able to upload videos onto the website and share it with the rest of the world. People also get a chance to rate and comment on the video. It is so accessible that almost anyone who knows how to use a computer is able to sign up as an user. Due to this accessibility, many videos of all sorts of content have been uploaded and this has also resulted in many unhappiness.
Personally, I agree with this statement. Ever since the set up of YouTube, many people have signed up as an user or visit the website every now and then to get the latest entertainment. It is not the fact that many people are viewing the videos or people going there to source for entertainment that has made YouTube ethical but because it allows the users to upload videos or music that are copyrighted and videos of any content, even those involving the government (eg. the case of the Thai King) or videos of violent content (eg. the case of Virginai Tech) onto the website, allowing everyone from all over the world to view it. By doing so, it has greatly affected the entertainment industries and in one way or another, degraded the artistes. It has also showed that the sole purpose of YouTube is to entertain. Besides entertainment, of course, YouTube has been created for money. By attracting the large numbers of viewers, YouTube will be paid with a large sum of money.
Therefore, I agree with the statement that YouTube has been set up for the sole purpose of entertainment and money. Although at first, it was set up to allow people to upload their own personal videos, its real puropse has already ceased and with all the copyrighted videos and music on YouTube, the original idea of "broadcasting yourself" is also lost.

Hi! My name is Chun Ying. I stepped into this world on the 23rd of March,1990. I am now studying in ANDERSON Junior College, had been a student of ANDERSON secondary for 4 years. (once an andersonian, always an andersonian! (: ) I was in INNOVA junior college for first 3 months. It was a great experience studying there, and I missed all the friends I've made there. Hope they are doing well. I've been in AJ for 2weeks and so much had happened. From the orientation to the I&E day that took place last Friday, I'm now more or less adapted to the school. Not forgetting my class, 20/07! Friendly bunch of people from all over Singapore. Though the class is dominated by Anderson Secondary people, I think we're still getting along well.
DANCE was my CCA in secondary, and it IS still my CCA. I would never forget my instructor, Mr Zhou Lei and the dancers i met in the 4 years of my secondary school life. They were the ones who made me love dancing so much! All the practices we had been through together, the performances, and SYF competitions. Thought the style of the dance I'm learning now in AJ is very different from the dance I learnt in secondary, I will NOT give up.
Some things about me:
I love the sun, love being tanned, love the beaches.DANCING makes me happy! Whenever I'm free, I like to play the piano. Music makes me relax. (: Books can be a love whenever the storyline is well, of my interest.
Well, that's all for now. Off to do the pile of homework. :(
